Act One set the stage with fantastic props and sets (tents, kitchen, The Library!) and set multiple stories in motion. It was extremely effective and drew a fantastic audience.
Now it’s time for Act Two and we all know where the theater is. It’s Liberty Square!
We can inspire the movement, build community and keep the call for power and income equity sounding by occupying using teach-ins, workshops, music, art, sign-making and the like.
It’s time to raise the curtain on a re-energized Occupation.
Let’s bring our commitment and creativity back to Liberty Square!
The COOLS (aka http://groups.google.com/group/OccupyCurveball google group) team proposes that work groups do their “best stuff” in the park noon-2 PM each day starting March 1st.
Please email us at OWSParkScheduling@gmail.com – let us know:
- When you can perform – what day at noon-2 PM?
- What performance you would be available to make?
- Who you know who would be willing to come speak, play or otherwise perform?
Thank you for what you have done to inspire this movement up until now. Your talents are *even* more critical in Act Two!
Don’t forget to get your friends and associates involved. Forward widely please to spread the word!
We have an amazing line up already in March for our lunch-time events but we can make it even better with your help. If you look below you will see we have Andy of the Yes Men who can tell us about how we can use creativity to have an impact politically. Our park will be visited by Egyptian activists who helped make Tahrir successful, including one who will tell us about what they do to try to police and military to defect or only appear to follow orders when actually cooprating with those fighting for freedom. There will be free yoga classes, free fitness classes, free bike repair training, discussions with historians who know about the power of keeping and holding space in political movements and the veteran activists Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers. You can come to the park and learn about what it is like to pie G. Gordon Liddy, the Watergate era chief operative for the White House Plumbers unit, from the famous Yippie pie man Aron Kay.
Come, perform, speak, dance, what have you. We need you!
Peace,
Morgan Jenness, Kevin Jones and Eric Light
